Cooking for a Cure on April 2

Event benefiting Diabetes Research Institute

Nassau County Legislator and Event Chair Delia DeRiggi – Whitton addresses guests at the 8th Annual Cooking for a Cure.

The 9th Annual Cooking for a Cure event to benefit the Diabetes Research Institute is off to a sizzling start. Nassau County Legislator and DRIF Board Member Delia DeRiggi – Whitton is leading the committee to create another fabulous evening of gourmet delights at Page One Restaurant in Glen Cove, on Monday, April 2 at 7 p.m.

This year Cooking for a Cure is pleased to honor Mr. and Mrs. Greg Trunz of The Swan Club and Special Guest Glen Cove City Councilman Anthony Jimenez.

For ticket and additional information call the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation at 822-1700.

Jeannie and Greg Trunz met at Rider University in 1981 and married in 1984. They reside in Hauppauge where they raised their four children. Greg and his brothers are owners of The Swan Club in Roslyn Harbor. After their daughter Allison’s death in 1997, they became active fundraisers for the Making Headway Foundation, which services children with brain and spinal cord tumors. When their daughter Katy was diagnosed with diabetes during the summer of 2004 their focus began to switch toward diabetes research.

Mr. and Mrs. Greg Trunz will be honored.

They have been active members of the Kindred Spirits support group at Winthrop Hospital. Being their daughter’s advocate at school and keeping abreast of technological advances in diabetes care has become a bit of a passion. Both support Katy as she takes on the roles of Counselor in Training at diabetes camp, member of her dance studio’s dance company, NYSSMA pianist and vocalist, honor student and budding thespian! They are the proud parents of a very healthy diabetic teenager.

Glen Cove City Councilman Anthony Jimenez will Special Guest at the 9th Annual Cooking for a Cure.
