Thank You Glen Cove Hospital

Recognizing Participation in Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton presented a citation to some of the staff who participated in Drug Give Back Day at Glen Cove Hospital. She is with Antonio Capobianco, security; George Hohenberger, director of security and safety; Dennis Connors, executive director; Joshua Strugatz, associate executive director; Gregory Bennett, administrative intern.

Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton helped publicize Drug Take Back Day. Before the event, she urged residents to get rid of any unused prescription drugs. This is part of the legislator’s greater effort to fight the growing abuse of prescription drugs, including new legislation that she is currently working on.

This week, the legislator thanked Glen Cove Hospital for partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other government, community, public health and law enforcement organizations in a nationwide prescription drug “Take-Back” initiative that seeks to prevent increased pill abuse and theft.

In conjunction with the DEA, North Shore-LIJ collected potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction at its hospitals on Long Island and in New York City. The service was free and anonymous.
