LIPA update – snow causing delays

This current storm has just been elevated – it has been named (Athena). My LIPA government contact tells me that the storm will delay their goal of restoring 90 % of power by tonight.

I, of course, commend all the crews who are out working hard, and we all know that LIPA management has a difficult task, but I continue to push for restoration to happen faster in our district – and for better comm

unication.

Tomorrow, I encourage you (and tell others with power out) to call my office at 571-6218 or email your situation to dderiggiwhitton@nassaucountyny.gov.

We have been speaking with LIPA for hours each day, with the senior managers on morning and evening government calls, and dealing with specific residents’ issues with a government liaison. I have been working with local officials and community leaders of civic associations and schools to compile information on possible complications and areas that need improvement in this restoration process.

I will follow up tomorrow with more information on how I am fighting for your power restoration.
