Delia commends Kevin Greenstein for his efforts to assist people with disabilities to vote

Kevin Greenstein, a Port Washington resident has a strong interest in public service and policy and uses those interests to speak up for people with disabilities. Kevin, a graduate of Port Washington High School, met with democratic leadership to extend the use of the lever voting machines. Kevin explained the difficulties of filling in the bubbles for people with disabilities. When Kevin first raised concern the response was to have his father fill in the bubbles for him. This was unsatisfactory for Kevin because it denied him the right of privacy of ballot. Kevin has proudly never missed an election vote and thanks to his hard work many others will have the opportunity to vote as well. Kevin was able to help pass three laws extending the use of lever voting machines in 2011, 2012, and 2014.

Kevin was honored by the Nassau County Legislature on Monday, August 1st 2016. Below is a quote from his speech;

“Thank you for honoring my efforts in keeping the lever machines. My goal has been to allow people with disabilities access to voting and to encourage them to vote.”
