The #GlenCove Anglers Club always does such a great job working with the City of Glen Cove Office of the Mayor in hosting their annual Snapper Derby - and this year's installment was no exception! It's a wonderful tradition for our youth that we all look forward to each year, and I thank the Anglers and the Glen Cove DPW for the hard work that makes this such a success year after year.

Thank you to the nearly 100 people who braved the weather last Thursday to join us for our NYS Emergency Preparedness Workshop at the Sea Cliff Fire Department ! Attendees learned how to prepare for any type of natural or man-made disaster and how to recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Everyone left with a fully stocked Citizen Preparedness Corps response starter kit - and more importantly, the knowledge they need to protect their families.
On Monday, we honored Nassau County Police Department Detectives Dave Ekstrom John Mitchell and Jack Sheehan. They were named July’s Nassau County Detectives' Assoc. Legislative #TopCops for conducting a more than monthlong investigation that led to an arrest in a murder case at a Bethpage hotel. Through their hard work, they unearthed a multi-state conspiracy involving out-of-state hitmen, brought five people to justice for their heinous acts, and delivered justice for the victim and his family.
We recently celebrated David Pearson's legacy by dedicating the new playground at the Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club at Lincoln House in his honor. Had a wonderful time last Thursday celebrating this amazing milestone during a beautiful luau-themed party at The Regency at Glen Cove Assisted Living complete with Hawaiian and Tahitian dancers and lots of love. Wishing you good health, joy and many more happy returns upon this wonderful day!
Congratulations to the Kelly Music Center on your grand opening in #GlenCove! Check them out for private and group lessons in piano, guitar, violin, voice, drums, and more for all ages and all skill levels. They're also hosting a summer music camp that kicked off on Monday. It's great to see how our City embraces the arts as part of its local business community!

Congratulations to the Glen Cove High School’s Softball team that won the Nassau County Championship for the first time in 40 years. The last time this happened in 1985, I was actually on the team.
I was so excited to see this occur again, and I was so impressed with the way this team played and how well they all got along.
Congratulations to Coach Kim Kessel for being awarded Coach of the Year for Nassau County 
At Monday's Legislative meeting, we honored First Precinct Officers Thomas Houghton, David Hubbard, and Keith Johnson as June's Nassau County PBA #TopCops for valiantly rushing into a blazing #EastMeadow housefire and saving two victims from the smoke and flames. Their professionalism, bravery and rapid response saved lives on that day, and we are grateful for their service! #Nassau County Police Department
